We were surprised to see a little trailer from Indiana roll up to the barn this morning at feeding time. It looks like one of our ponies got here a day early! We didn't have a stall ready for him so we put him out in the wooded paddock to let him acclimate. So, meet our newest pony! He doesn't have a name yet, but as we learn more about him and his personality he's going to be getting one that best suits him! We are very excited to have him, and are looking forward to the other new arrivals in our future! What a happy surprise to start off our weekend with! The lesson girls just love him. Everyone wants to ride him! Haha!

So, we're very excited to announce that we will have quite a few ponies joining our ranks within the next few weeks! Well, three of them actually. Two Fjords and one little Sport Pony (if all goes well!) we will also be adding a few other regular sport horses to our barn to add to our dressage lesson program (and our jumping program, but we just love dressage more!)
Stay tuned for pictures, names, etc. They're all still in transit but will be here hopefully within a week! We are excited to announce that we will be starting a new line of model horse feeds for the model horse enthusiasts. These will be great for Performance props but the intended audience are our friends with model horse barns. We're making feed buckets, feed bins, and most importantly... actual feed!
Please stay tuned to find out more. We are very excited to get started on this project! Lately we've been re-examining our barn and our goal of producing successful show horses. For the last year we've focused solely on Stone Horses, with Customs, Artist Resins, and Breyer being part of our background projects. With much deliberation we've decided to cut back on our Stone Horse show string to bolster our Breyer and Custom horse show strings. While we sell some of our champions with a heavy heart, we remind ourselves that we took these horses and made them into more than just dust collectors. They're moving on to new homes and finding new purpose with their owners through Performance and Halter. The decision to let a horse go is a hard one, but when you know they bring joy to their new owners it takes a bit of the sting away. We wish our former horses all the success in the world in their new homes. ------------------------- That being said, we have some wonderful new additions here at Blackthorn Stables! Our most recent is Frosty aka Dragon's Frost Diamond, the Irish Draught Stallion. We picked him up last Thursday and trailered him home. Unfortunately he did have a rather bad bout of colic but nothing too bad, according to our vet. I stayed the night with him and was relieved to finally see him pass feces (only a horse owner can be happy to see that, haha!) We're going to give Frosty a week to settle in and ensure that his diet and turn out is restricted. We don't want to have him colic again. I personally think it was the ride home that had him so stressed. He is doing much better today, seems very bright, perky, and happy. I snapped a quick picture of him waiting for me to bring him back to his stall (look at those big ears! I had just dished out the evening supplement buckets so he knew that there was some yummy mush waiting for him in his stall! Frosty will be with us for a long time to come! We were told he was trained to pull a carriage-- we're very excited about that!!
Be well, all! - Mary We've been doing a lot of work to the website, and I've finally completed listing all of my custom horses (D'oh, except for Pizzicato!) We'll be adding stud books soon, as well as more tutorials and videos.
Complete results from Hollow Horse Live 2 have also been listed. Next we'll be working on documenting the Artist Resins to complete our Non-OF barn. We're also going to be designing more graphics for our property to better showcase what kind of facility we are. We're So, we decided to host a formal blog here since there's the option and it's pretty easy to host and maintain. We will be posting some overflow posts from earlier to sort of set a bit of back history.

About Us
We're a model horse barn located in Region 7. We'll be sharing new additions, updates, and video postings here. Unless otherwise noted, all updates are pertaining to model horses, not their real life counterparts. So I guess you could say we do a bit of role playing in this Blog. Archives
